Wow! What a beautiful day we had for our annual cross country – blue skies and sun. The first races to start the day were the 7 and 8 year olds. Mrs Harsant started them off and they eagerly ran up the hill towards the hospital before heading down into the farm. Hadley Herman was the first runner over the finish line this morning, finishing with such energy he could have kept on running. After that the runners came thick and fast, all covered in mud, but still smiling. The Juniors were off next. For some of these little guys it was their first taste of school sports…and they loved it. Finally it was the turn of the Seniors. They had the furtherest to run and most races, especially the 9 year old boys, were very close. Phillip Hutchinson ran a great race and just pipped Luke Brell for first place. Hone Nathan was the winner of the 10 year old boys and hardly looked as if he had broken a sweat. Luckily, Mrs Southgate was there at the finish line with an ice block. Congratulations to all the winners and competitors. Good luck to those of you chosen to compete for our school at the Northern Wairoa Cross Country next week.
Cross Country was fabulous, so many muddy little people with huge proud smiles!
